Several sources are reporting that filming of Jersey Shore Season 6 culminated this past Friday after photos of the entire cast hugging and saying their good-byes hit the Internet. While MTV has not confirmed or denied the end of filming for this season, there’s a bigger question that looms. Does this mark the end of the road for the original cast?

Wetpaint.com reports:

“There was a huge fanfare outside the Shore house,” a show insider told Wetpaint Entertainment. “Everyone was hugging and kissing in the street – the crew, the cast, everyone.”

“The last night at the house, it was the original cast only,” the insider adds. “No boyfriends, girlfriends or fiancés. So Jionni wasn’t there and neither was Roger…although he and JWOWW are very much back on and doing well.”

“After everyone said their goodbyes, the cast got into their cars and drove behind each other … kind of like a funeral procession, only it wasn’t sad. At one point, JWoww actually got on top of the car to shout and laugh and Sammi did the same thing.”

Since it’s only early July, Season Heights without cameras and production crews on the boardwalk and at popular nightspots that are regularly featured on the show (such as Karma and Bamboo) is uncharted territory. Since summer 2009, MTV has virtually taken over the popular shore destination, turning it into a major tourist hub. To the locals, news that filming wrapped up earlier than expected may have come as a giant sigh of relief. For teens and 20-something’s that enjoy casual run-ins with the cast, the news may be unwelcoming.

So what’s the real reason behind pulling the plug early in Season 6? Snooki’s pregnancy? Deena’s arrest? Pauly D.and Snooki/JWoww’s spin-off? Only time will tell.

Season 6 will reportedly premiere in the beginning of September of this year.
