Greekflix is searching for reliable and innovative interns to advance their organizational goals through the use of our Social/Media Networking website, “Greekflix.com.” Each intern would be held responsible for various tasks and designated projects as described on the subsequent pages below and would be unique to the internship selected. The goal of these internships is to give undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students the opportunity to expand and learn new skills in their attributed fields, industries, and/or career paths.
These internships are flexible and many of the duties can be performed remotely however they do require a commitment of 5-10 hours a week and some office hours. The start and end dates can also be adjusted throughout the spring, fall, and/or summer semesters. These internships vary in paid, unpaid, and internship for credits positions.
All interns will report to the Director of Operations but may be required to work with other staff members if there is a need.
All interns must have the following attributes:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Superior organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A strong service ethic, superior grace under pressure
- Confidentiality with sensitive material and communication
- Resourcefulness and ability to work proactively and independently
- Willingness to get the job done (including administrative tasks)
All internships with Greekflix require a minimum six-week commitment and 5-10 hours a week in office hours and off site duties. Below are the types of internships available:
- Journalism Internship -Graphic Design Internship - Photography Internship
- Videography Internship - Marketing Internship - Advertising & Promotions Internship
- Journalism Internship
If you are a talented writer, excellent communicator, have an eye for news, a passion for writing, or just enjoy getting the scoop, here’s your opportunity to begin or enhance your journalism career with an internship through the Greekflix.com Journalism Internship Program! Here you can dabble in creative writing, current events, world news, sports, music, fashion, lifestyles, nightlife and entertainment, blogging, or other approved topics of writing. Through this internship opportunity, interns gain the opportunity to learn and enhance journalism skills and expand their professional networks. More importantly they gain the opportunity to have their work published for the world to see. Journalism interns’ responsibilities include: Scheduling interviews, researching stories, and posting, updating, and maintaining current events and news stories. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Journalism Interns must:
- Be journalism, mass communications or English majors
- Have strong verbal and writing skills
- Have a positive attitude
- Have the ability to complete designated tasks in a timely fashion
- Be organized
- Be articulate
- Have excellent researching skills
-Graphic Design Internship
Our graphic design internship will give interns valuable real-world experience in print and web design. All interns will be responsible for: assisting in designing ads for various publications, researching other non-profit organizations, foundations, and companies with successful branding or design systems, and assisting in brainstorming concepts for upcoming projects. Due to limited office space at the office, interns will mostly work off-site, so access to a computer (preferably Mac) is mandatory. Though this internship may be unpaid, all works produced by each individual intern may be used in their own personal or professional portfolio. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Graphic Design interns must:
- Be graphic design majors, communications or related field
- Be organized and detail-oriented
- Possess strong typography and layout skills
- Be proficient in Photoshop
- Photography Internship
Our photography internship includes hands on experience working with photographers, stylists, set designers, talent, and clients. Photography interns will aid in the day-to-day operations of the company and will gain first hand knowledge of how photographers are marketed and booked for jobs. The photography interns will also learn fine art editing to fulfill orders from individual clients. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Photography Interns must:
- Be photography majors, related field or equivalent experience
- Have a strong interest in learning photography
- Have knowledge and proficiency of imaging software (e.g. Photoshop)
- Have a conscientious attitude and attention to detail.
- Videography Internship
Our videography internships offer hands on experience working with motion pictures as individual and joint projects, as well as, experience in editing, video production, and working with stylists, set designers, talent, and clients to fulfill orders from individual patrons. Interns will gain the opportunity to demonstrate and expand their knowledge of the film field and gain first hand experience in how videographers are marketed and booked for jobs. Interns are expected to aid in the day-to-day operations of the company, production of online content and are encouraged to pitch story ideas. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Videography Interns must:
- Be Media, Communication, or Arts majors
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be punctual, detail oriented, reliable, motivated, and organized
- Be proficient in video editing programs (i.e., iMovie, Final cut, & Social Media sites)
- Marketing Internship
Our marketing internship supports the company activities in relation to determining market demand and converting the customers buying power into an effective demand for a service and subsequently bringing that service to the customer. Marketing internships offer experience in internet, non-traditional, viral, and corporate marketing. This internship will provide the intern with multiple aspects of marketing social service agency client services including: promotional material, public presentations, advertising techniques and fundraising activities. The intern will also develop written and website-based promotional materials, and implement specific approaches for Greekflix.com marketing services. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Marketing Interns must:
- Be marketing, business majors or related field
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
- Have a positive attitude, flexibility and problem solving mentality.
- Have a willingness to provide public presentations in a variety of settings
- Have a desire to work in a social service setting with a wide range of individuals with diverse needs.
- Advertising & Promotions Internship
Our Advertising and Promotions Internship entails planning and directing advertising programs and policies, and producing collateral materials such as posters, and coupons. Interns will also aid in projects centered on generating interests in service or product purchases for the company such as running contests and promotional campaigns. Following each promotional campaign, interns are encouraged to analyze promotion results to aid the company in determining the general effectiveness of the campaigns. At the conclusion of his or her internship, each intern will fill out a written evaluation of the program. The intern’s supervisor(s) will also fill out a written evaluation of the intern’s abilities, performance, and progress in the program. In addition, the supervisor may be used as a reference for future employments searches (i.e. job, internships, etc)
Advertising & Promotions interns must:
- Be marketing majors, business majors or affiliated with a related field
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have a positive attitude, flexibility and excellent problem solving abilities.
- Have strong public speaking skills and a willingness to facilitate public presentations.
- Have a desire to work in a social service setting with a diverse group of individuals.
